Our center is pleased to announce its newest treatment modality—the NeurOptimal® neurofeedback system. The system is safe for any and all ages, and provides a wonderful adjunctive modality to our integrative psychiatry, psychotherapy and IV therapy treatment.
What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is a type of biofeedback that uses our own brain activity to improve our brain’s ability to regulate itself. The NeurOptimal system is a safe, gentle way to help the brain make adjustments for optimal functioning. And of course the better our brains function, the better we function as well.
NeurOptimal and similar neurofeedback systems have been shown effective in helping to manage and promote benefits such as:
Helps reduce the impact of anxiety
Helps promote relaxation and better stress management
Helps improve mental acuity
Can assist efforts to learn and concentrate
Can help boost self-esteem
Can assist with weight-loss goals
Promotes healthy sleep habits & sleep management
Can assist with addition recovery efforts
Provides exercise for our brain
Contributes to general wellness
Wrapping our minds around the concept of neurofeedback can be challenging, but one helpful analogy is to think of our brains like our cars. When we hit a curb or roll over over something in the middle of the road, our car naturally bumps out of alignment. We then go to an auto repair shop and a mechanic uses computerized diagnostics to see what needs to be done as they do the work. The NeurOptimal system provides similar diagnostics, then gives feedback that helps make our brains into their own mechanics.
NeurOptimal doesn’t actually pick up the wrench, which is one of the reasons it’s so safe. Instead, the system continually suggests the best plan for alignment, and our brain interprets and incorporates the feedback as it sees fit.
One of the things that separates the NeurOptimal system from other neurofeedback types is that your session is not guided by a technician or other medical practitioner. You simply listen to music (and watch the optional visual display if you’d like), and the NeurOptimal software works with your brain to suggest the changes it needs for optimal function. This approach takes the possibility of human error out of the equation.
How Much Does Neurofeedback Treatment Cost?
NeurOptimal is currently $75/session with package discounts available. Sessions are recommended twice a week, with 20 sessions often being an ideal program. The number of sessions varies in part based on the type and severity of conditions being addressed. This type of neurofeedback can also be used as an on-going part of wellness and self-care.
