Finding Your True Self and Healing From Trauma: Psychotherapist Taylor M. Hall Shares His Approach

Self-Actualization and Trauma Therapy Centennial CO
In this post, psychotherapist Taylor Hall opens up about his own self-actualization journey and how he helps patients align with their authentic selves and recover from emotional wounds.

If you feel stuck in unhealthy patterns or are carrying hurt from your past, Taylor’s wisdom may help you find relief and rediscover who you really are.

My name is Taylor Hall, and I’m a licensed psychotherapist who specializes in helping patients actualize their true selves and heal from complex trauma. I also incorporate ketamine-assisted therapy into treatment plans when appropriate. Ketamine can really help accelerate the progress my patients make in their therapy.

In this post, I’d like to share my personal journey into this profession, the experiences that shaped my approach, and how I can help you overcome past hurts to become the person you were meant to be.

My Path to Psychotherapy and Ketamine-Assisted Therapy

Growing up, I struggled with issues like depression, anxiety, and lack of self-worth. The quest to understand myself better first sparked my interest in psychology. Later, my own recovery from addiction showed me the power we have to change our lives and reach out true potential with self-actualization.

My motivation is simple – I want to help guide others through the self-examination process I went through to find freedom, joy, and purpose.

The path wasn’t quick or easy. But out of my past struggles, I gained a wealth of experience that allows me to sit with people in their pain and help them through it.

If you feel stuck in old patterns, are carrying emotional wounds, or simply want to know yourself more deeply, please read on. I want to share how I can support your journey.

What Is Self-Actualization and How Is It Linked to Trauma Therapy?

Self-actualization refers to the process of realizing one’s full potential as a person. It means growing to fulfill your unique talents, capacities and dreams to become who you’re capable of being.

Pursuing self-actualization enables aligning your life and actions with your authentic values, desires, and sense of purpose. It is the path to becoming your most fulfilled, whole self.

There is an important link between self-actualization and recovering from trauma. Traumatic experiences often cause disconnection from one’s true self as a coping mechanism. Overcoming trauma requires reintegrating fragmented parts of oneself and shedding limiting narratives imposed by the trauma.

Self-actualization facilitates trauma recovery in many ways:
  • It empowers reconnecting with your inner being and establishing healthy boundaries.
  • The process aligns actions with values and regains a sense of identity and purpose.
  • Techniques like parts mediation directly align with the process of becoming whole.
  • A stronger sense of self builds resilience and the ability to self-validate.
  • As people heal trauma, they become more aligned with authentic desires vs trauma-based reactions.
  • Self-actualization sometimes requires the shedding “beliefs” that were placed there by an outside source (parents, a teacher, society etc.) that do not align with who you are as a person. This is frequently indicated by a strong feeling occurring within that does not align with your beliefs.

The process of becoming self-actualized enables moving past the impacts of trauma by empowering people to reconnect with their inner truths and rebuild a healthy identity.

Moving Towards Your Authentic Self with Psychotherapy

Through my own recovery work and professional training, I’ve developed an approach to psychotherapy that helps guide people through their own self-examination and healing.

I believe we all have an authentic self waiting to be uncovered.

My role is to help you strip away limiting beliefs, past hurts, and societal conditioning to align with your true values and desires. This process requires radical honesty, vulnerability, and a willingness to sit with discomfort at times.

In sessions, I create a judgement-free space where we can dig into your story and unearth formative experiences. Through our relationship, you can learn to trust your inner voice and stop seeking validation from external sources.

I incorporate techniques like inner child work and parts mediation to uncover different aspects of yourself that may feel buried or “stuck”. Reintegrating these split-off parts is key to becoming whole.

For those with trauma, I help safely process painful memories so they no longer dominate your life. We rewire unhealthy neural pathways together.

My goal is always to guide you to your own inner wisdom so you no longer need me. I want to help you live as your authentic self.

The Role of Ketamine-Assisted Therapy In Psychotherapy

Ketamine can be helpful in all of this because it helps us create new neural pathways. If you think of your brain like a record, the grooves keep us playing the same songs over and over again. But ketamine increases our neural plasticity, and this makes rewriting these old grooves easier. What might take a year in therapy ordinarily could conceivably take months or even weeks.

How I Can Help You

If you’re currently struggling with depression, anxiety, lack of fulfillment, or emotional wounds, I understand how hopeless life can feel in those dark places. I’ve been there myself.

But healing is possible with the right support and tools. These are some of the many ways we can work together:

  • Help you align with your true self so you can stop chasing validation and finally feel seen for who you really are.
  • Teach you how to set healthy boundaries and cultivate mutual understanding in your closest relationships.
  • Work through complex trauma and process difficult memories so you’re no longer dominated by your wounds.
  • Incorporate ketamine-assisted therapy into your treatment if appropriate to enhance psychedelic insights.
  • Collaborate with a psychiatrist or doctor so you have integrative support treating mental health conditions in ways that support therapy, such as medication, nutrition, or hormones.
  • Provide a judgement-free space where we can unravel the experiences that shaped you, then rewrite that story to something that serves you where you are now in the present — and hope to be in the future.
  • Equip you with self-care tools, healthy coping strategies, and new ways of thinking to take control of your mental health.

The most important thing is that you know inner freedom is possible. Healing happens one step at a time – but it starts when you reach out for support.

Also, I’d like to point out that therapy doesn’t have to be a lifelong commitment.

If you just need help during a particularly difficult time, I can be a bridge to help you get across this period. And if you have specific goals you’d like to work on, like co-dependency or communication issues with a partner, I can help you learn the tools you need to thrive on your own.
